Don’t Audit Life
Today I tossed my ‘To Do’ List—and the ones I created for the rest of the week. During the holiday season, most folks get so caught up in preparing for family celebrations (unless they are in denial) that they miss out on their life. I felt that way today at the exact moment I read “Bake favorite Christmas cookies” on that silly list. I now have no baking plans and have, in fact, decided to “show up” each day with family and friends with the intention of building a deeper relationship with each one.
It’s easy to look at managing your team as a ‘To Do’ list:
- check daily production goal quotas
- verify all materials/resources on site
- send out holiday invitation to families
Here’s the thing—without making a connection at genuine communication you may not have a team to lead. Open and honest dialogue where both parties listen and understand the other is what it takes to build those deeper relationships. Relationships that add the color and light into your day because you showed up. The result will be satisfied team members AND satisfied customers.
Until next time...live like you mean it!
