Leaving a Legacy
I’m preparing for Mom’s 76th birthday next week, and got to thinking about the impact she has had on the lives around her.
That led to further thinking around what kind of legacy leaders are leaving in organizations today. Go to any bookstore business section and you will discover dozens of business leader profiles. Over the years, there have been many bright and shiny stars in business who have left their mark on a company. An exceptional leader is the one whose mark - their legacy - is indelibly written on the pages of company history.
These stories have certain characteristics:
* the leader is typically charismatic
* the leader produced record-breaking results
* the leader built a solid foundation for the future
What is your leadership legacy? What will future generations be repeating of your mark on the organization? Will it be a brilliant foundation from which high goals were achieved? Or, will you have made no impact on the health and growth of the company? Something to think about.
Until next time...live like you mean it!
Marjorie
