Success - Travel Well

Each of us are inundated with tons of spam emails and, lately, the majority I’ve received are about ways to achieve mega-success.  It seems this success can be yours in “5 Simple Steps” or accomplished in “10 Minutes a Day”.  Hardly—but I wish it were true!

My definition of SUCCESS has morphed over the years.  As a new manager, it was only about exceeding (not merely achieving) the target goals.  As part of a human resources team, it was only about employee satisfaction and empathy.  Now, as an entrepreneur, it’s both those things plus dozens of additional concerns...all of which take time and energy.  For me, it’s not just the end result but also the journey to reach the result.

In your team leadership role, your success is not simply handed to you—you wake up every day and work hard at it.  I encourage you to be truly conscious in the midst of working hard every day.  It’s easy to rush through a day on autopilot but you will miss the subtle interactions that could hamper your success.  I do not wish that for you.

Ponder these words:
“Though your journey may be filled with many winding roads, when you are inspired to follow your dreams you eventually find success, and discover it is less about the destination and more about the manner in which you traveled.”

Until next time...live like you mean it!
