Winners Give It Their All
It’s Thanksgiving week and somewhat dreary outside so there are tons of excuses for not putting out my best effort. Some thoughts running through my brain - “Most people are probably gone this week so there is no point in making client calls.” Or, “I’d rather plan Sadie’s first birthday party instead.” Here’s a classic, “I’m more productive when the sun is out.”
Twenty years after Nike’s ‘Just Do It’ campaign, these words are still true when thinking about your personal team leadership skills (though you should also be working on fitness). When your thought is, “Most people are probably gone this week so there is no point in making client calls.” The answer is, “Just do it anyway!” More productive on a sunny day? Too bad...just do it anyway.
We all are influenced by external forces that stop us from accomplishing our goals. It takes a strong mind to focus on what matters today. Focus - this dedication to staying on a course of action - is what sets you apart from others. To be a leader, all you need to give is all you have. Yes, some days it takes tons of effort, but you will be rewarded by a team that performs to that level as well—because they witnessed you modeling what “effort” looks like.
Until next time...live like you mean it!
